Suicide Bereavement Liaison Service
Anyone affected by suicide is also welcome to contact a Suicide Bereavement Liaison Officer, who can meet with a bereaved family (at their request) as a group or individually. Perhaps you may have specific questions about some of the difficult practical issues following a death by suicide.
You may want guidance or assistance in accessing a therapeutic service, or even just to talk with someone locally about what has happened. In some cases, there may be a specific concern about the reactions and emotions family members or the wider community are experiencing. In any case, we welcome your call. A bereavement support pack specific to your relevant county will also be available through your Suicide Bereavement Liaison Officer.
The Suicide Bereavement Liaison Service is available in the following counties:
Suicide Bereavement Liaison Officer: Pauline Cahillane
Telephone: 085 856 8082

Suicide Bereavement Liaison Officer: Jim Meaney

You can access the service yourself by contacting your local officer by telephone, email or post. In addition, first responders such as members of the Gardai, Clergy, GPs or funeral directors are also actively encouraged to refer people to this service.
The Suicide Bereavement Liaison Service is provided by Pieta House Bereavement Services, and other agencies, in selected regions and funded by the HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention. The service in each area is supported and guided by key agencies and stakeholders including the HSE, Regional Suicide Resource Officers, Pieta House, an Garda Síochána and representatives from religious and community groups. Most importantly, bereaved families and individuals also participate in all aspects of the service provision and future development.
Any general queries about the service and its development can be directed to the Pieta House Administration Office (01 628 2111).
